Another day, another achievements for BTS member and lead vocal Park Jimin as he is expected to debut inside Top 15 of Billboard Hot 100 for his new single “Who” from his sophomore album, “Muse” released last July 19, 2024.
This will be his second entry on the Top 20 of the said chart after his hit last year, “Like Crazy” which debuted at No.1. making him the very first Korean soloist to debut a No.1 song to Billboard Hot 100.
The Korean Superstar’s song debut at No.3 on Global Spotify with 9.9M Unfiltered streams but rise up to the top spot on its 5th Day with almost 11M total streams. He has surpassed the previous number one songs from Billie Eillish and Sabrina Carpenter. His album has also debut with the highest streams for a Korean soloist in 2024 and third for Korean act, behind his co-member Jungkook and his group, BTS.
His second album was consist of seven songs, with two of it being pre-released like Smeraldo Marching Band and Closer Than This. The new added songs are Rebirth (Intro), Interlude: Showtime, Be Mine and Slow Dance, a duet with American Singer Sofia Carson. “Who” which is the lead single has been a favorite, written by his label, Bighit Music’s resident producers Pdogg, GHSTLOOP, Jason Cornet, Pete Nappi and Grammy Winner Jon Bellion.
The songs has been charting to more than 100 countries in iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify. The music video for “Who” has already garnered 20 Million views as of this day which resulted for the music video to No.1 of Youtube’s Daily Top Music Video on the release day.
The album itself, has debuted with total of 113,891,826 filtered streams on Global Spotify Weekly Chart, and became the 2nd biggest weekly album debut by Korean/K-Pop soloist on Spotify next to Jungkook.
“Who” also became the highest song to chart on US Spotify with 2.1M streams surpassing Jungkook’s Seven. In his home country South Korea, the song has been number one since the release, and just today, reaches a new peak of 360K streams, making it the biggest streaming day for any song in the country.
In other countries, “Who” has also been topping the UK charts, as it debut at No.4 at the UK Singles Chart surpassing his previous entry, Like Crazy which is at 8. while it top the UK Official Single Sales and Physical Singles Chart. It also topped the Single Download Chart making him achieve an UK Official Singles Chart All-Kill.
Jimin also performs a pre-recorded performance of “Who” for Tonight with Jimmy Fallon which he recorded before his military enlistment last December 2023. Together with the pre-recorded performance is a dance practice video of “Who”.
Besides “Who”, some of the songs from the album is still charting on the Global Spotify, that’s why the album is expected to debut at NO.2 on Billboard 200 with total of 95K total album units. It will tie as the highest album debuted position by a Korean / K-Pop Soloist on the said chart. Jimin also is the second soloist in iTunes history to have #1 in 100 countries with 8 entries.
