GMA Regional TV launched its One Mindanao Program to deliver news that is more appropriate and close to the locals of Mindanao which airs on Mondays to Fridays at 5 pm available in local GMA channels throughout Mindanao. GMA Regional TV vice president and head Oliver Amoroso stated that One Mindanao will be produced by Mindanaoans for Mindanaoans which shall reflect on the stories and features that they will present. With that being said, the program will go beyond the usual topics covered in Mindanao about conflicts and local “wars” as it aims to bring the Mindanaoans together through its contents and news. The program will also be available to watch locally and internationally on GMA Regional TV Weekend News on GMA News TV and GMA News TV International.
One Mindanao Davao-based anchor Sarah Hilomen Velasco stated that they have sources all over Mindanao in order to cover the diversity in Mindanao while also being able to put people together more effectively through their own connections within the region. However, Sarah stressed the challenge of delivering the news in the most appropriate way possible given Mindanao’s diversity in culture, religion, language, and local traditions.
Sarah’s co-anchors Zamboanga-based Argie Ramos and Cagayan de Oro-based Cyril Chaves have expressed their gratitude for the program as according to them, it is a platform that gives light to Mindanao’s diversity while being able to deliver news that would feature places and events that the Mindanaoans would be familiar with.
