EVIALIS, one of the world’s leading producers of complete feeds, recently partnered with Central Visayas Pork Producers Cooperative (CEVIPCCO) through its donation drive to enhance the region’s biosecurity program. Boxes of disinfectants were delivered to CEVIPPCO in Cebu at the Welissa Warehouse.
”CEVIPPCO would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Evialis for their commitment in supporting our organization’s efforts. Evialis has proved to be an ally of the Philippine hog industry in combatting the ASF outbreak in this country. Their donation of disinfectants will be used to strengthen our biosecurity measures in all our member farms. The Evialis support will definitely go a long way in helping to prevent ASF outbreaks from happening and ensuring that hog raisers can continue their livelihood,” said Paul Holaysa, President of CEVIPCCO.
The program, as supported by Evialis, enjoined its partners in the private and public sectors to form an interdisciplinary program that assists local hog raisers in relatively low to zero ASF prevalence to protect and preserve their territory from ASF Virus.
Evialis advocacy and commitment to support the Banty ASF sa Barangay (BABay ASF) program in the whole country, aims to control African Swine Fever (ASF) and revive the livelihoods of both backyard and commercial swine farmers through biosecurity, surveillance, and monitoring, as well as the restocking of swine farms affected by the disease
Bantay ASF sa Barangay, is a multi-stakeholder partnership between the public and private sector and veterinarians, seeks to control the spread of ASF and assist in the repopulation of farms affected by the disease.
“Evialis commitment has always been consistent when it comes to helping the commercial farms and its owners. We know the importance of the local hog industry when it comes to our economy and our stakeholders can be assured that our company is devoted in providing support to the industry in any way we can” said Dr. Aileen Guerrero, Product Manager, Evialis.
According to the Department of Agriculture, the local hog industry has lost a total of P56 billion to ASF. To date, 25 of the 81 provinces have been affected with almost 350,000 pigs culled since the outbreak in the country in last September 2019, the agency said.
As additional support to the company’s advocacy against ASF, Evialis has tapped Jean Mac Laurent, Technical Swine Manager, ADM Asia to conduct a series of webisodes.
With the topic, “How to protect your herd,” Mr. Laurent prepared a series of webisodes that touches on the different aspect of protecting your farms against ASF. The said webinar can be viewed in Evialis official Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/Evialis.Philippines
With Evialis continuous coordination and support with organizations such as CEVIPPCO, commercial farms, its owners and stakeholders of the hog raising industry can be more equipped to address and resolve the challenges posed by ASF
