The SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPHI) will open three new SM Supermalls this year as it continues to help the economy’s recovery following the decline due to COVID-19 pandemic. This will now bring a total of 79 SM malls in the Philippines.
SMPHI president Jeffrey Lim mentioned that two of the three new SM malls are located in Luzon: the SM City Daet in Camarines Norte, and the SM City Grand Central in Caloocan City. The third mall is located in the Visayas, and this will be called as SM City Roxas in Capiz.
Lim said the launching of these three new malls signifies SM’s strong stand in mall development business. This also sends a strong message of Philippines capability to attract the market, to both local and foreign retailers, despite the pandemic.
As part of a great response to the government’s call for private sector support in the fight against the pandemic, the Sy Group had opened select SM malls to host the government’s vaccination program, with an intention to help curb the spread of COVID-19. These SM malls had become convenient and easy access venues for groups or individuals identified as priority by the government.
