It’s been 21 months since BTS, the popular South Korean group announced their break from performing as seven members. Since then, the members, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook has been releasing solo projects.
Jin initiates to be the first to enlist in December 2022, followed by J-Hope in April 2023, Suga in September 2023, and the last 4 members in December 2023.
Just this month, 3 members have made it to the news as they released content that they produced before enlisting. First is V (aka Kim Taehyung) who released his single, Fri(ends) last March 15, 2024, which debuted at 65 on Billboard Hot 100.
Another member is Suga, who announced the premiere of his D-Day Live Concert in Seoul which will be shown in Cinemas on April 10 and 13. It features live performances with his BTS members, Jimin, Jungkook, and RM. The live concert itself has a total gross of 57.2$ million worldwide.
Additional news for Suga, according to Korean media outlet Dispatch, Suga’s agency BIGHIT Music said he has entered the military camp in Nonsan for 3 weeks of training.
“According to the system of [starting] service in advance, Suga began his work first. He enlisted in the recruit training center today,” his management said in a phone call.
Suga has been serving in the military since September 2023. Because of his shoulder surgery in October 2020, he has been assigned to a post serving as a social service employee.
Last but not the least, J-Hope, main dancer and rapper of the group has released his sophomore album, “Hope On The Street Vol.1” last Friday, March 29, 2024. This is a continuation of his debut album, Jack In The Box, released on July 2022.
Consist of 6 songs, J-Hope returna to his root in Gwangju, South Korea and perform different dance genre that he has learned through the years. He also went to Japan, Europe and US to shoot contents for the documentary released on Prime Video with the same title.
Currently the album is performing well in charts, including Worldwide Charts. The album featured collaboration with BTS member Jungkook, Le Sserafim Huh Hyunjin, Benny Blanco, Nile Rogers, JINBO The Superfreak, Gaeko and Yoon Mirae.
This just proves that BTS continues to surprise and gift their fans with lots of content during their absence due to mandatory military service. With 3 months remaining in his service, eldest member Jin is expected to start the days of counting the most awaited comeback of BTS.
