PANDAN, ANTIQUE — A new historical marker honoring revolutionary leader and former Antique governor Leandro Locsin Fullon was unveiled in Pandan, Antique on September 21, 2026, commemorating his contributions to the Philippine Revolution and the history of Panay.
The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), in partnership with the Municipal Government of Pandan and the Provincial Government of Antique, led the unveiling ceremony at the Fullon Monument.
NHCP Deputy Executive Director Alvin R. Alcid, Pandan Mayor Tomas U. Estoperez Jr., Antique Governor Paolo Everardo S. Javier, and Antique Representative Antonio B. Legarda Jr. led the unveiling and floral offering at the monument.
The ceremony also featured a presentation on Fullon’s life and contributions, followed by the presentation of the historical marker and the signing of the Certificate of Transfer and Acceptance between the Municipal Government of Pandan and the NHCP.
Born in Hamtic, Antique, on March 13, 1874, Fullon became a prominent figure in the revolutionary movement in Panay. On September 21, 1898, he led a revolutionary expedition to Panay that landed in Inyawan, Pandan.
Fullon fought Spanish forces in Antique before joining General Martin Delgado’s campaign in Iloilo. He later served as a general during the Philippine-American War, continuing the resistance in Antique.
In 1901, Fullon became governor of Antique, serving as the province’s first Filipino governor. He held the position until his death on October 16, 1904.
The unveiling of the marker highlights Fullon’s role in the province’s revolutionary history and provides a permanent historical reference for future generations.
The NHCP, the national government agency tasked with promoting Philippine history and preserving the country’s historical heritage, continues to mark significant historic sites and structures across the country.
