When you say fave K-Drama, everyone will pull-out their own list of their favorite through all these years! As for me, I think I’ve found my new favorite K-Drama next to Descendants of The Sun (2016) and that is one of the most loved K-Drama of the this year, TVN’s “Lovely Runner”.
Starring Byeon Wooseok who appeared on 20th Century Girl, Record of Youth, Strong Girl Nam-soon to name a few, and Kim Hyeyoon who previously work on Sky Castle, True Beauty and Extraordinary You. The show premieres on TVN from April 8, 2024 to May 28, 2024 every Monday and Tuesday.
The story started to a Korean Idol Ryu Sunjae and his solid fangirl, Im Sol. In the high-stakes world of stardom, Ryu Sun-jae shines as a top-tier celebrity whose life, despite its public facade, is marred by exhaustion. Im Sol, an ardent admirer of Sun-jae, finds solace in his music.
When news breaks of Sunjae’s tragic accident, Sol is devastated. However, fate intervenes, transporting her 15 years into the past to 2008, when Sunjae is a 19-year-old high school student. Seeing this as a chance from heaven, Sol vows to change the course of destiny for the both of them while grappling with the challenges of changing the past.
Im Sol tried all her best to change the future and eliminate the death of Ryu Sunjae in the near future, which is 2023. Soon she will find out why destiny played a special role on this.
What will you do when all the events in the past repeated but this time, it will show you that the death that you’ve wanted to change, happened all because of you?
Im Sol was given three times to change the past for Ryu Sunjae, but the plot is plotting! Because she will find out that all this time, even 15 years ago, the idol she’s fallen in love with in the present has been in loved with her all along. During those time travel, Im Sol also found out that she was in a relationship to another character and didn’t notice Ryu Sunjae . What hurts the most is, Ryu Sunjae has witnessed it all, while being at Im Sol side without her knowing him and his feelings.
Because of an accident that happened 15 years ago, it left Im Sol in a wheelchair, without the chance to walk again. But one day, a phone call on a Radio Station from a guy, which is Ryu Sunjae (later on revealed as Sunjae’s idea) to console Im Sol in the hospital and to ask her to not give up on life. The irony!
What makes this KDrama stands out was the continues flashback to explain every timeline. This KDrama has showed the power of unconditional and only love because what do you mean by Ryu Sunjae loving Im Sol silently for 15 years, to Im Sol loving Ryu Sunjae silently for 15 years because of her, changing the past and erasing her existence in his life to prevent his death in the present time.
Hearts will be broken to the very last time that destiny gave them a chance to change the future. In this timeline, Sun Jae totally don’t know Im Sol, but as always, when it comes to love, the brain may forgets but heart could never.
I can’t stop talking how beautiful the story is, imaging falling inlove to the present him without knowing that he has already inlovw with you 15 years ago. That in every timeline that Im Sol tries to save Ryu Sunjae from his death, was the time she would found out that he has been saving her all along.
Watching this KDrama is a roller coaster of emotion. And the OST, most of it was sang by Ryu Sun Jae himself, the talented Byeon Wooseok as the member of Eclipse. Also participated on the OST was 10CM, Ha Sung Woon, N. Flying, Umji and Minnie.
The 16 episodes KDrama was originally published as a web novel on Kakao Page between July and September 2020 written by Kim Bbang. It was later adapted into a webtoon by illustrator Doong Doong, which became available in September 2021.
It is directed by Yoon Jong-ho, who co-directed other popular works such as Goblin (2016–2017) My Holo Love (2020), and Flower of Evil (2020). It is also written by Lee Si-eun, who is best known for her work, True Beauty (2020–2021).
It was previously titled Time Walking on Memory (기억을 걷는 시간; Gieog-eul geonneun sigan).
