After her 2023 Box Office Queen award two weeks ago, Kathryn Bernardo continues to bagged awards left and right as she won the Best Actress category for the 2024 FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences) Awards last May 26, 2024 at The Manila Hotel.
The 28-Years-Old superstar has won the awards against biggest actress like Maricel Soriano (In His Mother’s Eyes), Sharon Cuneta (Family Of Two), Marian Rivera (Rewind), Eugene Domingo (Becky & Badette) and Charlie Dizon (Third World Romance). Bernardo, whose movie, “A Very Good Girl” garnered almost P 200M in box-office September last year.
Another big win that night is the MMFF movie topbilled by Piolo Pascual, “Mallari” which he bagged the Best Actor award. The Roderick Cabrido-helmed movie won seven awards in total, including Best Picture and Best Screenplay. It is also rumored that the movie also earned hundreds of million last MMFF Festival including international box-office. Mallari will premiere on Netflix this coming June 21, 2024.
Both Bernardo and Pascual was from the tons of talented stars from ABS-CBN’s Star Magic. Pascual first had his FAMAS nomination as an actor way back 2000 for “Esperanza”, 2005 “Milan” where he won his very first FAMAS Best Actor, 2007 for “Don’t Give Up On Us” 2008 “Paano Kita Iibigin”, 2010 “Love Me Again” and 2014 “On The Job”. He also won “Best Supporting Actor” in 2003 for “Dekada 70“.
While Bernardo, has her 1st FAMAS award in 2011 as German Moreno Youth Achievement Award and later on bagged Best Actress nominations for Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay in 2014, She’s Dating The Gangster in 2015, Crazy Beautiful You in 2016, Barcelona A Love Untold in 2017 and Hello Love Goodbye in 2019 and finally, in A Very Good Girl in 2024
Currently, Bernardo is also up for the Best Actress Award for the 2024 Gawad Urian which if she won, will has her very 1st Grand Slam for Best Actress. She is also holding the title of the Highest Grossing Philippine movie of all time where she holds since 2018 with The Hows Of Us and Hello Love, Goodbye in 2019 both grossed P 800 Million in total box-office. Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes’ MMFF and Star Cinema movie, “Rewind” took the top spot when it gross more than P900M last year.
