Today is another special day for BTS fans, ARMY as they celebrate the 31st birthday of Min Yoongi, aka Suga, the main rapper and producer of BTS.
Suga, who’s currently serving in the military as social service agent since September 2023, is celebrating his birthday today, March 9, 2024. Known as one of the most talented producer, he let the fans known his battle for mental health problems through all these years. To give inspiration to others that, just like in him, everything’s gonna be okay.
Suga is very vocal about his past, his family problems. Most especially, dealing with himself and the people around him. He is the second eldest member of BTS, Suga is known for being one of the introverts on the team together with Jin and Jungkook. He is quiet and calm, compose and smart.
One of the songs known under his productions is, Seesaw from the 2018 BTS album, Love Yourself: Answer. In this song, he used Seesaw as metaphor to describe the imbalance and and inequity in a relationship.
Another song is “Tear” which he himself dedicated to his BTS members during their supposed to be disbandment way back, 2018.
Min Yoongi aka Suga, was born in Daegu, South Korea. He is the youngest to the family of 4. On most of his song, he’s been vocal about his father’s stand about him pursuing and producing songs instead of other jobs. He said that his family is not supportive of his life choices. That’s why at the early age, he is studying and working at the same time.
He said that he works as a delivery boy in Seoul while being a trainee to Bighit, which he originally applied to become a producer. But Bighit’s CEO, Bang Shi Hyuk has another plan for him and that’s why he encouraged Suga to train as a hip-hop idol group member together with his future team member, RM and J-hope.
Suga has already released 3 mixtapes since 2016 under his alter ego, Agust D (a reverse of his name, D from his hometown, Daegu and his position in basketball, his another passion). His very 1st mixtape, Agust D was released on August 16, 2016, surprised everyone with D-2 on May 22, 2020 and just last year, D-Day was released on April 21, 2023.
Before the released of his latest album, D-Day, it was announced that he will have a world tour in America and Asia, making him the very first member of BTS to have a solo concert.
