Amid the pandemic, bicycles became a necessity especially for people who are using them as their mode of transportation in going to their workplace or doing their job (sales, delivery, logistics, service, etc). In addition to this,
bicycles have become perfect to observe social distancing.
As a result of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, millions of Filipinos in the Greater Capital Region (Metro Manila and its surrounding provinces) will have no option but to walk or cycle. Before Covid-19, the different modes of public transport — from tricycles to trains — served over 17 million trips daily in Greater Manila. The actual reduction in public transport capacity imposed by physical distancing is far more than 50 percent.
And with the increasing use of bicycles for work and play, Metro Manila and other local government units decided to allocate bike lanes in roads and highways to ensure safety.
According to Dr. Antonio Dans, an avid cycler and doctor at the Philippine General Hospital, explained that the exercise from riding a bicycle would not only boost the body’s immune system to better fight communicable diseases such as COVID-19, but would also improve overall health and prevent complications caused by hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular illnesses.
Another reason why the bicycle industry increased is because health buffs and those who are fond of doing daily exercises found that biking is a good alternative to sports such as basketball, running, workouts inside the gyms, cross fit among others. There are things in biking to become a healthier person because biking is good at increasing cardiovascular fitness, increasing muscle strength and flexibility, improved joint mobility, decreased stress levels, improved posture, and coordination, strengthened bones, decreased body fat levels, and prevention or management of a disease.
Thus this kind of sport does not only bring d the opportunity to travel and see new places can be found in biking, and in the province of Bulacan in San Jose Del Monte, there is a well-known man who sells bicycles. According to him, the bicycles he selling have been tested by many and sells them at an affordable price.
