MANILA, Philippines — Authorities in the Czech Republic have declined to provide details بشأن the arrest and detention of former lawmaker Zaldy Co, despite inquiries from Philippine media and officials.
According to a report, Czech authorities refused to disclose information about Co’s current status, including his place of detention, legal condition, and the procedures that may follow his arrest. Requests for clarification from government offices in the Czech Republic have so far gone unanswered.

Co was reportedly apprehended in Prague, where he is now under the custody of local authorities. However, officials have remained tight-lipped, with some agencies deferring comment or directing inquiries to other government bodies.
The Philippine Embassy in the Czech Republic has also not released specific details, saying it will report developments to the Department of Foreign Affairs as information becomes available.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier confirmed Co’s arrest, saying the Philippine government is coordinating with Czech authorities to ensure proper legal processes and facilitate his possible return to the Philippines.
Co is facing graft and malversation charges linked to alleged irregularities in flood control projects. His arrest comes after months of scrutiny over his alleged involvement in anomalies tied to infrastructure funding.
As of writing, both Czech and Philippine officials have yet to release further details regarding Co’s detention and the timeline for any legal proceedings or repatriation effort
