ACEN Corporation, the listed renewable energy arm of the Ayala Group, has joined forces with GCash to launch the Ilocos Norte Solar Rooftop Campaign. This ground-breaking initiative marks the first local government-led green energy financing program in the Philippines, aimed at bringing residential solar installations within reach of everyday Filipino households.
The program bridges the gap between clean energy technology and household affordability by eliminating steep upfront equipment costs. Financing is powered by Fuse Lending Inc., the credit unit of GCash, allowing homeowners to pay for solar rooftop installations through flexible GGives monthly installments ranging from three to ten years, with rates starting as low as ₱1,300 per month without requiring traditional bank collateral.
Rollout begins across pilot areas in Laoag City, Pagudpud, and Dingras, focusing on households consuming an average of 4 kilowatt-hours per day or higher to yield immediate electricity savings. Project partners Solaric Philippines and the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative ensure seamless installation and net-metering integration, enabling participating families to export surplus solar generation back to the grid for bill credits.
Beyond lowering monthly utility expenses for Ilocano families, the strategic partnership supports national sustainability objectives targeting a 35% renewable energy mix by 2030. By transforming Ilocos Norte into a practical testing ground for decentralized residential power, ACEN and GCash aim to establish a scalable blueprint for accessible green financing across the archipelago.
