SM Prime Holdings, Inc. has officially reached a historic milestone in its domestic expansion with the grand opening of its 90th mall in the Philippines. Located in the vibrant “City of Flowers,” the newly launched SM City Zamboanga marks a significant investment in the Zamboanga Peninsula, serving as the company’s 8th lifestyle center in Mindanao. This four-level development adds over 42,000 square meters of premium retail and commercial space to the region, reinforcing SM Prime’s commitment to driving economic activity and domestic tourism in high-growth areas outside of Metro Manila.

The mall introduces several “first-in-the-city” features that blend cutting-edge technology with local cultural elements. Most notable is the exterior’s massive corner outdoor LED wall capable of displaying 3D content, a feature previously seen only in major hubs like BGC. Inside, visitors are greeted by Mindanao’s tallest scenic elevator, which is wrapped in a 72-foot LED screen to create an immersive digital experience as it moves between floors. Architectural details throughout the space draw heavy inspiration from the region’s heritage, specifically the iconic Vinta, with vibrant geometric patterns and wood finishes that pay homage to the craftsmanship of the South.

Sustainability and inclusivity remain at the forefront of this new development. SM City Zamboanga houses the city’s first electric vehicle charging station, alongside a comprehensive solar panel array and a “Trash to Cash” recycling hub. Recognizing the diverse community it serves, the mall also features a dedicated Muslim Prayer Room, a Skyplaza aviary-themed indoor garden, and modern amenities like an upgraded Cyberzone and Director’s Club cinemas. As SM Prime continues its 2026 expansion—with additional malls slated for General Trias, Sta. Rosa, and Tagum—this 90th branch stands as a testament to the brand’s evolving role as a key commercial and social hub for the Filipino community.
