Leading the charge in corporate governance excellence, several publicly listed companies, including SM Investments Corp., Converge ICT Solutions, and D&L Industries, have been honored with Golden Arrow awards following the recent ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) assessment.
SM Investments Corp., Converge ICT Solutions, and D&L Industries stood out for their adherence to high corporate governance standards, as evaluated by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD). The accolades underscore their commitment to transparency, accountability, and strategic governance practices.
ICD, a non-profit association dedicated to corporate governance, plays a pivotal role in recognizing companies that excel in the five key areas assessed by the ACGS. These areas encompass shareholder rights, stakeholder relationships, transparency, strategic board guidance, and board accountability.
Out of 260 publicly listed companies in the region, only 85 achieved a commendable score of at least 80 points in the ACGS assessment. The Golden Arrow awardees demonstrated excellence across various sectors, showcasing their commitment to robust corporate governance.
Nine companies under the SM group, including China Banking Corp., SM Prime Holdings, and BDO Unibank, received Golden Arrow awards. This recognition reinforces the strong corporate governance culture embedded within the SM Investments ecosystem, according to SM Investments President and CEO Frederic C. DyBuncio.
D&L Industries secured its third consecutive Golden Arrow award, emphasizing the company’s dedication to sustainable growth and longevity through best-in-class corporate governance practices. D&L President and CEO Alvin D. Lao sees this recognition as a foundation for ongoing improvement. Despite being a newcomer to the stock exchange, Converge ICT Solutions swiftly earned the Golden Arrow award. The broadband provider received the highest scores in stakeholder roles and disclosure/transparency, showcasing its commitment to internationally recommended corporate governance practices.
The Golden Arrow awards celebrate the achievements of these companies in upholding corporate governance standards, setting a benchmark for excellence in shareholder relations, transparency, and strategic board guidance. This recognition reaffirms their commitment to fostering trust and accountability in the business landscape.
