The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced the temporary closure of both ends of Andrews Avenue at Newport 10th Street, as well as the Pasay City and Parañaque City Baclaran boundary to improve the drainage system.
In a statement last March 23, 2023, DPWH’s South Manila District Engineering Office (SMDEO) said the road closure will start from March 24 until Nov. 24, 2023.
The culvert construction of the road is scheduled daily at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
DPWH Regional Director Loreta Malaluan and South Manila District Engineer Mikunug Macud said the construction aims to resolve the perennial flooding in the area.
They said the culvert construction will improve its drainage system as box culvert will be simultaneously constructed in 50-meter sections of both ends.
To address the projected traffic that the repair will cause, the DPWH-SMDEO will be operating in the allotted window time only, in coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy traffic is expected during the construction period.
