In a major move to reinforce energy security and grid stability across Luzon, Mitsubishi Power and LNGPH have signed a comprehensive Long-Term Parts and Services Agreement (LTPSA) covering the 1,200-megawatt Ilijan Combined Cycle Power Plant in Batangas. Executed between Mitsubishi Power’s local after-sales subsidiary, MHI Power (Philippines) Plant Services Corporation, and LNGPH unit South Premiere Power Corporation, the agreement establishes an end-to-end support framework for the facility’s M501G gas turbine fleet.
Under the terms of the agreement, MHI Power Philippines will supply essential hot parts and spare components, execute complex repair works, and deliver specialized technical advisory services for the plant. By leveraging specialized OEM engineering and condition-based analytics, the long-term deal is designed to optimize heat-rate performance, improve outage predictability, and ensure maximum operational availability for one of the country’s most critical power generation assets.
A Two-Decade Partnership Extended
The signing deepens a relationship between the energy companies that spans more than twenty years. Mitsubishi Power originally manufactured and supplied the M501G gas turbines when the Ilijan facility first began commercial operations in 2002. Extending OEM-level service management allows the plant operator to maintain continuous reliability even as market conditions evolve and electricity demand on the Luzon grid continues to grow.
Executive leadership from both organizations emphasized the strategic importance of the renewed commitment. Akihiro Ondo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific, noted that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to providing stable, flexible power generation to meet the long-term energy requirements of the Philippines. The Ilijan power facility forms an integral component of LNGPH’s integrated liquefied natural gas import, regasification, and gas-to-power complex in Batangas. Combining investments from major energy players including Meralco PowerGen Corporation, AboitizPower, and San Miguel Global Power Holdings Corporation, LNGPH oversees a combined capacity of 2.5 gigawatts through South Premiere Power Corporation and Excellent Energy Resources Inc.
With South Premiere Power Corporation holding a power supply contract extending through 2040, the specialized maintenance partnership with Mitsubishi Power ensures that the Ilijan complex will remain a dependable backbone of clean-burning, natural gas-fired energy for decades to come.
