Senator Bong Go attended recently the Indigenous People Day Celebration in Glan, Sarangani on Wednesday during which he acknowledged the policemen and firefighters for maintaining the peace and order plus the safety of the community.
Senator Go was referring to Congress Joint Resolution signed by former President Duterte in 2018, which doubled the base pay of a private in the military, police officer 1 and equivalent ranks in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Public Safety College, Philippime Coast Guard and National Mapping and Resource Information Authority. Go vowed to continue to be a staunch advocate of the welfare of indigenous communities.
After the gathering, Senator Bong Go proceeded to the Glan municipal gym to aid indigents in a relief activity. Senator BG also distributed grocery packs, face masks, vitamins, shirts and snacks to a total of 500 beneficiaries. Some even received bicycles, cellular phones, shoes, basketballs and volleyballs for their sports and physical activities.
Senator BG also reiterated that the members of the community with health issues that they can visit the Malasakit Center at Dr. Jorge P. Royeca Medical Center in General Santos City.
Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development extended financial assistance through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program.
