MANILA – South Korea is emerging as a promising market for Philippine mango exports, with increasing demand presenting opportunities for local producers to expand their global reach.
Agriculture officials and industry stakeholders noted that Filipino mangoes, particularly the country’s premium varieties, continue to gain recognition abroad for their distinct sweetness and quality. Efforts are underway to strengthen trade ties and promote the fruit in the South Korean market, which has shown growing interest in tropical produce.

The Department of Agriculture (DA), along with export groups, is exploring strategies to boost shipments, including improving production standards, ensuring consistent supply, and meeting South Korea’s import requirements. These measures aim to enhance the competitiveness of Philippine mangoes in the international market.
Industry players also emphasized the importance of value-adding and processing to increase export potential. Expanding into processed mango products such as dried mangoes and puree could further capture the attention of South Korean consumers.

Meanwhile, exporters are optimistic that continued government support and market promotion will help sustain growth in mango exports. Strengthening logistics, cold chain systems, and compliance with phytosanitary standards remain key priorities.
The Philippines remains one of the world’s top producers of mangoes, and tapping into high-demand markets like South Korea is seen as a crucial step in boosting the country’s agricultural exports.
