Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly considering a return to the United Kingdom, according to a source cited by NBC News, amid renewed attention on the couple’s relationship with the royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior working members of the British royal family in 2020 and subsequently relocated to the United States, eventually settling in California.
The possibility of spending more time in Britain comes as Harry has continued to maintain ties with the country, including visits for family and charitable engagements. In a 2022 interview with NBC’s Today, Harry said the United States had become home for him and his family, while also acknowledging that he missed his family in the UK.
Security has remained a major issue surrounding Harry’s return to Britain. After stepping down from royal duties, he lost automatic taxpayer-funded police protection and later challenged the decision in court, arguing that his family faced security risks when visiting the country.

Harry and Meghan’s relationship with other members of the royal family has also remained strained since their departure. Harry has spoken publicly about his experiences within the monarchy, while his relationship with his father, King Charles III, and his brother, Prince William, has attracted considerable media attention.
Despite the tensions, Harry has continued to return to the UK for selected occasions. His visits have fueled speculation about whether he and Meghan could eventually spend more time in Britain, although any return would not necessarily mean a restoration of their former roles as working royals.

The couple’s move to the United States followed their decision to step back from royal duties and pursue independent careers and commercial projects. Their relocation became one of the most significant developments in the modern British monarchy and was widely known as “Megxit.”
The reported possibility of a return to Britain therefore marks a notable development in the Sussexes’ post-royal lives, although the couple’s long-term plans and the extent of any potential relocation remain subject to confirmation.
