BAGUIO CITY – Benjamin Magalong has called on residents to practice proper waste disposal following recent flooding caused by heavy rains.
Magalong stressed the importance of discipline in managing garbage, particularly discouraging the dumping of waste in waterways and along roads. He said improper disposal contributes to clogged drainage systems, which can worsen flooding during downpours.

The mayor issued the appeal after parts of the city experienced flooding amid continuous rains. He emphasized that residents must take responsibility for ensuring that trash is properly segregated and disposed of in designated areas.
Magalong also reminded the public to avoid placing garbage outside during heavy rains, as it can easily be washed into canals and rivers, blocking water flow and increasing flood risks.

City officials continue to monitor affected areas and are urging cooperation from the public to prevent similar incidents, highlighting that proper waste management is a shared responsibility in maintaining the city’s drainage systems and overall environmental health.
