Mazda Philippines has added a new vehicle to its local roster with the all-new Mazda BT-50. The new pickup truck boasts a new 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine and is available in three variants. It also comes with a styling design that is unique to Mazda while retaining a rugged look that pickup trucks are known for.
For the exterior, the all-new Mazda BT-50 takes on the automaker’s familiar KODO design language. This gives the pickup truck a familiar look to its large crossover counterparts such as the Mazda CX-8 and Mazda CX-9. The new BT-50 comes with a large grille positioned on either side by LED headlights paired with LED daytime running lights. It also comes with a special skid plate for its higher variant models and a more humble one for its lower-end variants.
On the side and the rear of the vehicle comes with a more minimalistic design. There aren’t too many creases along the side and even at the rear as the pickup truck gives off a more sculpted, fluid, and elegant design. The BT-50 is available with either 18-inch or 17-inch wheels depending on the variant. The higher tier model gets the petal-like design, while the entry-level variant gets the multi-spoke wheels. For the higher variant, the wheel design is reminiscent of what was seen on the older version of the wheel.
For the interior, the Mazda BT-50 comes with a simple yet well-designed dashboard that bodes well well with the overall design aesthetic of the vehicle. It comes with either leather or cloth as its material option for its seats. Aside from this it also has automatic climate control and has rear vents to better help cool the vehicle.
When we talk about safety, the Mazda BT-50 isn’t compromised as it comes with Dual SRS airbags for the 4×2 model, 7 SRS airbags for the 4×4 model, ABS with EBD, stability control with traction control, a reverse parking camera as standard, rear parking sensors, hill descent control, and hill launch assist.
The 4×4 version of the pickup truck comes with more features such as lane departure warning, push to start and stop key, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert., automatic highway control, and forward-collision warning.
Under the hood, the all-new Mazda BT-50 is powered by a new 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine that produces 187 hp and 450 Nm of torque. It shifts via a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual that sends power to the rear or all four wheels depending on the variant.
