Federal Express Corporation has officially broken ground on a major expansion of its Clark gateway facility in Pampanga, cementing the Philippines’ status as a vital logistics and trans-shipment hub within the Asia-Pacific region. The ambitious development project, executed in partnership with project developer Robinsons Land Corporation, will see the air cargo giant significantly increase its presence at the Clark International Airport complex to meet rising demand for express, e-commerce, and heavy freight transportation.

Once completed, the modernized facility will span over 78,000 square meters—more than double the size of the initial gateway launched in late 2021. The state-of-the-art expansion will feature advanced sorting and cargo-handling capabilities designed to enhance operational flexibility and improve shipment flow reliability across international routes. By scaling up flight capacities and streamlining ground operations, the upgraded hub will better position local micro, small, and medium enterprises to access global supply chains while giving international traders easier access to the Philippine market.

The milestone ceremony gathered key regional leaders from FedEx alongside high-level government officials, including Finance Secretary Frederick Go and Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque. Government executives emphasized that high-impact logistics investments outside Metro Manila serve as vital catalysts for economic development in Central and Northern Luzon. Representatives from the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, the Clark Development Corporation, and airport manager Luzon International Premiere Airport Development also expressed strong support for transforming Clark into a premier civil aviation and trans-shipment power hub.

In addition to operational enhancements, the expanded Clark hub will integrate comprehensive eco-friendly features aimed at lowering environmental impact and optimizing energy use. Plans include insulated building materials, energy-efficient glazing, high-performance roofing, LED lighting, electric vehicle charging stations, rainwater harvesting infrastructure, and provisions for future solar panel deployment. This expansion highlights FedEx’s long-term commitment to continuous network innovation and sustainable growth across the fast-evolving Asia-Pacific market.
