CEBU CITY, Philippines—Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio on Wednesday, November 12, made a crucial visit to typhoon-ravaged areas in Cebu, personally delivering much-needed support and assistance to families reeling from the destructive force of Typhoon Tino. Her presence and the swift response of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) served as a beacon of hope for communities struggling to recover from massive flooding and displacement.
The Vice President’s itinerary focused on some of the hardest-hit localities, including Liloan, Danao City, and Compostela, where widespread flooding caused catastrophic damage and loss of life.

VP Duterte visit went beyond ceremonial distribution; she personally engaged with affected residents, listening to their pleas and offering a message of encouragement, urging them to “Ayaw gyud mo og hunong sa pagsalig sa Ginoo” (Don’t stop trusting in God), as she told evacuees in Danao City.
The Office of the Vice President’s disaster operations centered on providing immediate relief to ease the burden on displaced families.
The OVP distributed essential aid packages, notably the RIICE (Relief for Indigents and Individuals in Crises and Emergencies) boxes. Each box typically contains five kilos of rice and six canned goods, providing crucial sustenance for affected families. The OVP also distributed water containers to residents.

Showing deep compassion for those who lost loved ones, VP Duterte visited the wakes of some typhoon fatalities in Liloan. Her office provided ₱15,000 in cash assistance to each bereaved family to help with immediate funeral expenses.
VP Duterte-Carpio’s commitment to the Visayas region underscores the OVP’s readiness to assist local government units in their disaster response and recovery efforts, ensuring that help reaches those most in need.
