The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 92nd founding anniversary on October 29, 2025, at the historic Metropolitan Theater in Manila. The evening became a meaningful convergence of music, culture, and heritage with a Kapampangan concert and recognition of the institution’s valued partners.
Titled “Singsing,” the event filled the MET with the captivating sounds of Kapampangan music, performed by the Holy Angel University Orchestra—formerly known as the HAU Marching Band. It was the orchestra’s first national performance before a public audience, symbolizing a shared celebration of artistry and legacy, as Holy Angel University also commemorates its 92nd anniversary this year.

The night was not only about music, but also about gratitude and collaboration. The NHCP took the opportunity to honor its key partners from government agencies, local institutions, and private organizations that have been instrumental in advancing its mission of preserving and promoting Philippine history and cultural heritage.

Among those recognized were: the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, Office of Representative Roman Romulo, Philippine Information Agency, Department of Science and Technology–Forest Products Research Development Institute, Department of Budget and Management, Department of Education, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Transportation, and the DOST–National Research Council of the Philippines Experts Engagement Program.

Other awardees included the National Library of the Philippines, National Commission of Muslim Filipinos, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Civil Service Commission–Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Field Office, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Office of the Solicitor General, Boy Scouts of the Philippines, National Commission for Culture and the Arts–Metropolitan Theater, Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, and various local government units, universities, and foundations such as the Ayala Foundation, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Okada Foundation, San Miguel Holdings Corporation, and Strong Media Advertising Solutions, Inc.

Adding to the celebration was the launch of “Patuloy sa Pagtuklas,” the official theme song and music video of the Dekada ng Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas 2023–2033—a decade-long observance that will culminate with the NHCP’s centennial anniversary in 2033. The song encapsulates the continuing journey of rediscovering and honoring the nation’s past while inspiring future generations to value their roots.

Founded on October 23, 1933, as the Philippine Historical Research and Markers Committee, the NHCP has evolved through the decades into the government’s lead agency in preserving the nation’s historical and cultural treasures. Its tireless efforts through museum programs, historical research, publications, and conservation initiatives have helped ensure that the country’s heritage remains relevant and accessible to Filipinos today.

The 92nd anniversary celebration was more than just a milestone—it was a reaffirmation of NHCP’s enduring mission to safeguard history and heritage, made possible through the support of its many partners. With the harmonious sounds of Kapampangan music and a renewed spirit of collaboration, the event stood as a reminder that the nation’s past continues to inspire its present and future.
