The Manila City government and Department of Education (DepEd) distributed learning tools such as tablets with learning modules, laptops, and Wi-Fi devices to teachers and school students.
There were around 136,950 tablets and 11,000 laptops were distributed to the teachers and students. The project aims to provide tools to 296,00 students and 11,000 teachers in over 100 public schools in Manila that cost around P1 billion for the project.
“I look forward to the heightened interest, and to the high level of quality of education in the city of Manila. This is the site of many educational institutions and perhaps one of the most intense concentration of learners in the country,” Briones said.
With the free gadgets, Moreno said teachers and students may adapt to the new normal of distance learning.
