Sangandaan IEMELIF Church, alongside its official youth ministry, Lumiere Youth, is bringing fitness, faith, and fellowship together on Saturday, August 15, 2026, for the LAYAG Fun Run 2026. The fundraising event invites families, seasoned runners, and local community members to hit the pavement for a shared mission.
Featuring a 5KM category with a 5:00 AM gun start and a 3KM category starting at 5:45 AM, the morning promises both a rewarding run and a unique splash of fun, complete with a traditional “basaan” water activity facilitated by fire trucks along the course.
Beyond physical wellness, every registration directly fuels the community work of Sangandaan IEMELIF Church—funding its ongoing outreach programs, expanding its discipleship mission, and driving the renovation of its second-floor facility. This holistic focus reflects the church’s core mission of strengthening faith, cultivating fellowship, and serving others through Sunday worship, midweek gatherings, and active compassion programs that extend practical aid to families in need.
Overall Project Head Xiaresse Andaya highlights that the run is designed as a direct response to a growing need for meaningful human connection. “People nowadays are actively looking for communities, each for their own reasons. May mga naghahanap ng bagong makikilala, bagong pagkakaabalahan, o kaya naman ay simpleng bagay na aabangan,” Andaya shares. “As more people seek spaces where they can belong, building safe and welcoming communities becomes a form of ministry in itself. For us, that ministry takes shape through a running community, which also aligns with our purpose of helping fund our mission activities further through the event.”
That spirit of belonging is championed heavily by Lumiere Youth, the church’s youth arm. Through weekly cell groups, Bible studies, and peer mentorship, the youth ministry creates welcoming, Christ-centered spaces for young people to develop servant leadership—an ethos that sits at the center of the LAYAG initiative.
Co-Project Head Jaime Jimenez emphasizes that the ultimate goal extends far beyond the finish line. “With LAYAG FUN RUN 2026, we hope to offer participants more than just a race to finish,” Jimenez says. “We hope they go home with a deeper sense of belonging, renewed courage, and the faith to move forward—na maglayag sa kabila ng alon, this time with the assurance na hindi sila kailanman nag-iisa sa paglalakbay.
