Advocating for inclusive and accessible design of public facilities yesterday, President Marcos told officials at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) that critical infrastructure projects must be completed on time and within budget.
Speaking at the 125th anniversary of the DPWH in Manila, Marcos urged officials to make use of new technologies and techniques available for the benefit of Filipinos.
Marcos also reminded the DPWH to ensure the integrity and accessibility of government-funded infrastructure.
The government, he said, must consider the needs of all individuals, including people with disabilities, pregnant women, the elderly and children, and incorporate elements of culture and history in infrastructure designs to foster a sense of pride and belonging among Filipinos.
In March, the National Economic and Development Authority board, chaired by Marcos, approved a total of 194 infrastructure projects amounting to about P9 trillion, mostly for irrigation, water supply and flood management.
According to a statement released by the Department of Budget and Management yesterday, the President has approved the proposed 2024 national budget amounting to P5.768 trillion, which is 9.5 percent higher than this year’s P5.268 trillion budget.
