Simply thinking about the word conjures up visions of automobiles barreling over jumps, enormous rooster tails, and burning sideways slides. The Subaru WRX is the only sedan or family wagon in recent memory to generate as much enthusiasm.
On the strength of this anticipation, Motor Image Pilipinas (MIP), distributor and guardian of Subaru’s thrilling automobiles in the Philippines, this week unveiled two fifth-generation Subaru WRX models: a sporty sedan and a sports wagon.
At the joint media and public debut of the two new cars, Glenn Tan, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Tan Chong International Limited, which runs Motor Image Pilipinas, remarked, “The all-new WRX is here to excite your senses.”
The Wagon, which is regarded as the rocket for dads, has been enhanced to also express “bolder,” the one word that guided the complete redesign of the WRX in both notchback-sedan and station-wagon body styles. From the outside, both cars exhibit Subaru’s modern design philosophy “Dynamic x Solid,” but even more so with the Wagon.
The new sedan, simply known as the WRX, is 75 mm longer, 30 mm wider, and 10 mm lower than the previous model. The wheelbase is also 25 mm longer (2675 mm). The new WRX Wagon is 20 mm larger in the wheelbase and 65 mm longer, 15 mm wider, and 10 mm higher than the preceding Levorg (2670 mm). This implies that Subaru’s Levorg variation is no longer available; it has been replaced with the straightforward and modest term “Wagon.”
