Last July 27, 2022, the Ateneo de Manila University announced that former Vice President Leni Robredo will receive an honorary doctorate for her contributions to mitigating poverty during her time as the country’s second highest official.
It is to conform to a memorandum dated July 27 and signed by Ateneo President Roberto Yap.
“In its 11 July 2022 Special Board meeting, the Ateneo de Manila Board of Trustees resolved to confer the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, honoris causa, on Maria Leonor G. Robredo,”.
Finally, yesterday — August 27, 2022, Atty. Leni Robredo attended the commencement ceremony to receive her Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Economics. During the ceremony, the whole atenean community welcomes her with joy and pride. The awarding of the Ph.D. title to Atty. Robredo became the highlight of the program. The graduates, guests, faculties, and administration of Ateneo are very happy about the award that the former vice president received.
She also delivered the commencement address to the Loyola Schools´ Class of 2022. It was a very anticipated event for the graduate. One of the most markable line in her speech is, “Love exists only among equals, kung hindi magkakapantay, walang pag-ibig”. This line leaves the graduates inspired and grounded.
On the other hand, the eldest daughter — Aika Robredo, shared on her Instagram how proud she is for her mother after receiving the degree of Doctor of Economics, honoris causa. She also expressed how joyful she is because their family has three graduations this year. Her post is captioned is “ THREE GRADUATIONS IN THE FAMILY THIS YEAR!’”.
