“Chubby is the new DJ.” This is the introduction of the official Facebook page of Janine Royo – Yanuario, more popularly known as Ate Jha-Jha is currently taking Tacloban City by storm. Not literally, but in a good way as she shares her positivity and contagious laughter.
MNLToday.ph had a chance to get to know more about Ate Jha-Jha during previous events handled by Themeactive, Inc. in Tacloban City. Have a closer look and learn a thing or two from from the 27-year old DJ Ate Jha-Jha.
How long have you been a DJ for MOR Tacloban?
I have been a DJ for more than 2 years but before, I am also connected to media as a TV news reporter. But before that, I was also a building administrator in an outsource company here in Leyte.
What gave you the opportunity to try out as a DJ
I just saw an ad on TV and I tried it out. I actually had my OJT in the same company so it felt like going back home.
When did you know that you have a caling to become a DJ?
Since birth (laugh out loud). I am really talkative ever since I was a kid. I grew up imitating hosts and newscasters on TV, that’s why I am that confident in public speaking. It also helps that I am very confident with who I am and I have no problem being the center of joke. I am just a jolly person.
Of course, number one requirement of being a DJ is to have a beautiful voice. What can you say about your voice? What do you think is/are the reason/s why your listens and fans fell in love with your voice?
-I guess. I have a distinct voice. Yung boses na fun pero sweet. Yung kalog pero formal. Medyo contradicting ba? I think people listen because I’m not boring. My program in the radio requires my positive and jolly attitude that’s why I use my voice as a reflection and it’s not hard ,kasi ganun naman talaga ako in reality.
Any plans of trying out being a DJ to other key cities? Like Cebu or even in Manila and establish a bigger fan base?
If given the chance, I would love to grab it.
Message to your fans.
Thank you so much guys for always believing in me. Please stay in love with me. SS po tayo.
