I’ve got a confession to make. AIR is just a nickname that I used way back in 1995 when during a conversation about sneakers (AIR JORDANS, AIR PIPPENS, AIR HARDAWAYS, etc.) with a buddy of mine, I kidded and said that if I were to have my own line of sneakers, it will be called the AIRquiola.
You see, I have always been a Michael Jordan fan. This writer is a frustrated professional basketball player. At 39, turning 40 this year, I still love to ball. Blessed with a stable job, now, I have the capability to purchase and somehow collect basketball shoes.
Aside from my Jordan collection, I also have a couple of LBJs and a Kobe shoes. For basketball players, we know that the Lebrons and the Kobes has always been compared to the GOAT. But enough of that background as this article discusses the reason why I decided to purchase the Nike Kobe AD Exodus.P
The game has changed. And so is the technology behind basketball shoes. The Jordans will always have that classic feel but truth be told, the earlier Jordans are heavy compared to the new designs and models of Nike.
Aside from emulating your basketball idols, wearing their shoes can mean half of the battle. You see, for ballers, they always envision themselves as Kobe Bryant when they are wearing the Black Mamba’s kicks. And I’m no different to that. When I saw the Nike Kobe AD Exodus being worn by some of my teammates, I immediately got hooked with its design. And wanting to get a different color way, I knew I had to contact my main man sneakerhead, Zac Vicente-kcus. When he posted a purple and gold colorway of the Exodus, that was it.
I’m going to review the Nike Kobe AD Exodus as it is. I’m no hardcore sneakerhead but just a regular baller who wants to use a basketball shoes that will protect my feet as well as support my body from the moves that I can still do on the court (As if I can still do a lot!)
But getting a bit technical, you can see that the front of the shoes or the the toe box features a paper-thin mesh layer along with a medium-sized fuse layer on top to protect that mesh. Most of the reviews I read over the net has been comparing the Exodus from Kyrie 3. I have seen some players in the commercial league that I’m playing, the Exodus is different.
I’ve used the Nike Kobe AD Exodus in both practice and actual games, and overall, it has good traction, good cushioning and the support and lockdown are on point. Overall, a very solid hoops shoe that I can say is worth every penny. Even with Kobe already retired, wearing
this sneaker gives this frustrated baller a little bit of venom in this Black Mamba wanna be.
