The Philippines kicked off the official pre-pageant activities last January 15, 2017, as part of its hosting the Ms. Universe 2017.
The eighty-six candidates visited different tourist attractions as they got to explore the many sights and sounds of the Philippines.
Here are some of the highlights of their tour.
Miss Angola, Luisa Baptista; Miss Georgia, Nuka Karalashvili; Miss Denmark, Christina Mikkelsen; and Miss Guam, Muneka Joy Cruz Taisipic boarded the iconic jeepney to visit the busy town of Binondo to hold a photoshoot featuring the area’s famous establishments. as well as the Philippines’ iconic jeepney.
Candidates also visited the picturesque city of Vigan where a fashion show was held showcasing the traditional Philippine terno. The activity was held along Calle Crisologo and Plaza Burgos.
The Philippines’ representative Maxine Medina were joined by Miss Guatemala, Virgina Argueta; Miss Netherlands, Zoey Ivory; Miss Great Britain, Jaime Lee Faulkner; Miss Cayman Islands, Monyque Brooks; Miss Czech Republic, Andrea Bezdekova; Miss USA, Deshauna Barber; Miss Uruguay, Magdalena Cohendet; Miss Malaysia, Kiran Jassal; Miss Belgium, Stephani Geldhof; Miss Vietnam, Dang Thi Le Hang; Miss Thailand, Chalita Suansane; Miss Venezuela, Mariam Habach; Miss Singapore, Cheryl Chou.
Meanwhile, some candidates headed to Boracay for a photo-shoot on the white-sand beaches that has made the island world-famous. Other activities they participated in included weaving nets, making fish houses, and participating in a dragon boat activity.
The candidates who belong to this group were Miss Argentina, Estefania Berna; Miss Australia, Caris Tiivel; Miss Belize, Rebecca Rath; Miss Chile, Catalina Paz Caceres; Miss Costa Rica, Carolina Duran; Miss Ecuador, Connie Jimenez; Miss Guyana, Soyini Fraser; Miss Malta, Martha Fenech; Miss Mexico, Kristal Silva; Miss Myanmar, Htet Htet Htun; Miss Namibia, Lizelle Esterhuizen; Miss Nicaragua, Marina Jacoby; Miss Poland, Izabella Krzan; Miss Turkey, Tansu Cakir; Miss US Virgin Island, Carolyn Carter; and Miss Honduras, Sirey Moran.
Ms. Universe 2016 winner, Pia Wurtzbach and 16 other candidates went at an exclusive beach club in Batangas for a swimsuit photo shoot.
The delegates who sailed from Manila to Pico de Loro aboard former governor Chavit Singson’s yacht were candidates from Croatia, Belize, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, Iceland, Curacao, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Portugal, Panama, Germany, Jamaica, Angola, Bolivia, Georgia, and Romania.
Twenty-four candidates, on the other hand, visited Baguio for the floral parade. Three flower-covered floats representing the islands of “Luzon,” “Visayas,” and “Mindanao,” where showcased and served as the ride of the candidates..
Seen at the flower parade were Miss Australia, Caris Tiivel; Miss Colombia, Andrea Tovar; Miss Peru, Valeria Piazza; Miss Puerto Rico, Brenda Jimenez; Miss Spain, Noelia Freire; Miss Albania, Lindita Idrizi; Miss Aruba, Charlene Leslie; Miss Barbados, Shannon Harris; Miss France, Iris Mittenaere; Miss Guam, Muneka Joy Cruz Taisipic; Miss Haiti, Raquel Pelissier; Miss Israel Yam, Kaspers Anshel; Miss Italy, Sophia Sergio; Miss Kenya, Mary Esther Were; Miss Korea, Jenny Kim; Miss Kosovo, Camila Barraza; Miss Malta, Martha Fenech; Miss Mauritius, Kushboo Ramnawaj; Miss New Zealand, Tania Dawson; Miss Norway, Christina Waage; Miss Slovenia, Lucija Potočnik; Miss South Africa, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene; Miss Sweden, Ida Ovmar; Miss US Virgin Islands, Carolyn Carter.
Finally, all the 86 candidates traveled to Cebu for the swimsuit presentation at the JPark Island Resort and Waterpark, on January 17.
