Global BTS leader RM is set to make history in the art world through a landmark collaboration with San Francisco Museum of Modern Art for the upcoming exhibition, “RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me.”
The exhibition, which will run from October 3, 2026 to February 7, 2027, marks the first-ever museum exhibition featuring artworks from RM’s personal collection. It will also be the first collaboration of its kind between the globally renowned K-pop artist and one of the world’s leading modern art museums.
According to SFMOMA, the exhibit will bring together around 200 works from both RM’s private collection and the museum’s own holdings, offering visitors a rare opportunity to explore modern and contemporary Korean art alongside internationally celebrated masterpieces. Many of the artworks from RM’s collection have never before been publicly exhibited in the United States.

The exhibition is curated by RM, whose real name is Kim Namjoon, together with SFMOMA co-curators América Castillo and Hyoeun Kim. The project aims to explore themes surrounding cultural and artistic boundaries, including the intersections between East and West, Korea and America, and the personal versus the universal.

In a statement released by the museum, RM shared his hopes for the exhibition.
“We live in an age defined by boundaries. This exhibition at SFMOMA reflects those boundaries: between East and West, Korea and America, the modern and the contemporary, the personal and the universal,” RM said. “My only hope is that this exhibition can be a small but sturdy bridge for many.”
The collection will feature works from some of Korea’s most respected modern and contemporary artists, including Yun Hyong-keun, Park Rehyun, Kwon Okyon, Kim Yun Shin, and Chang Ucchin. These works will be displayed alongside pieces from SFMOMA’s collection by internationally acclaimed artists such as Mark Rothko, Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, Paul Klee, and Korean master Kim Whanki.

SFMOMA Chief Curator Janet Bishop described the collaboration as an unprecedented opportunity for visitors to experience RM’s “beautiful and contemplative collection” in dialogue with the museum’s own works.
Known among fans for his deep appreciation of visual art, literature, and museums, RM has frequently shared glimpses of his art collection and gallery visits throughout the years. His passion for art has become a defining part of his public identity beyond music, with many fans and art enthusiasts praising the collaboration as a meaningful cultural bridge between Korean contemporary art and global audiences.
The exhibition will be held exclusively at SFMOMA in San Francisco. Member previews are scheduled from October 1 to 3, 2026, while general ticket sales will begin on August 11.
