MANILA, Philippines — Comedic icon Vice Ganda and award-winning actress Nadine Lustre are set to honor motherhood in their latest film “Call Me Mother,” one of the official entries to the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) opening this Christmas Day.
The upcoming comedy-drama explores the many faces of motherhood, with Vice Ganda and Lustre portraying characters whose lives intersect through love, family, and emotional challenges. The film’s theme highlights that being a mother goes beyond biology, resonating with audiences during the holiday season.

Directed by Jun Robles Lana, Call Me Mother follows the story of Twinkle (Vice Ganda), a determined woman navigating the legal process of adopting her son, while Mara (Nadine Lustre), the child’s biological mother, unexpectedly returns — testing their understanding of family and caregiving.
At the film’s premiere and related events, Vice and Lustre expressed gratitude for the opportunity to highlight the strength and sacrifices of mothers, with the story aiming to spark conversations about love, identity, and parenthood.
The cast also includes a slate of rising stars from PBB Collab Season 1 such as Mika Salamanca, Shuvee Etrata, Brent Manalo, Klarisse De Guzman, River Joseph, and Esnyr Ranollo.
As part of the MMFF’s lineup, Call Me Mother joins seven other films showcased during the festival’s Parade of Stars and nationwide screenings, which kicked off last week with fanfare and floats in Makati City.

The Metro Manila Film Festival is one of the country’s most anticipated film events of the year, traditionally running from December 25 to the first week of January, offering a mix of genres that appeal to Filipino audiences during the holiday season.
Call Me Mother will be shown in cinemas nationwide starting December 25, as families gather to celebrate Christmas with stories that reflect love, laughter, and heartfelt connections.
