Actor, director, and producer Tyler Perry christened his gigantic film studio last October 2019. Fellow entertainment luminaries of said producer traipsed a red carpet to the complex for an opening gala.
The attendees warmly congratulated Perry who was once homeless yet now owns a studio of his own.
“I think it’s pivotal in everything that we’ve done, everything that we’re doing still, that we continue to try to motivate and inspire people,” Tyler Perry said in an interview as he greeted well-wishers.
Entertainment icons like Cicily Tyson, Halle Berry, Oprah Winfrey, Samuel L. Jackson, Spike Lee, and many more helped in christening Perry’s new film studio. Said studio was once a Confederate army base and is about 134 hectare.
Winfrey lauded Perry and said that the new studio head is a force to be reckoned with.
“He didn’t wait for other people to validate or to say you should go this way or that way. He said I’m going to create my own way and as we can see here, become a force for himself,” Winfrey said.
“I remember when he was thinking about buying this place and I said ‘You’d be crazy not to take it.'” Oprah added.
Samuel L. Jackson, on the other hand, pointed to Perry’s vision as the reason for the producer’s success.
“This is more about Tyler the entrepreneur. The visionary. A guy who understands that ownership means that you can do what you want,” Jackson said as he paused along the red carpet.
The Tyler Perry Studios has 12 soundstages that are named after seminal black actors and actresses.
