Darryl Yap, a controversial filmmaker and a proud supporter of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., made a noise after revealing that they will make a movie about what they called the ‘untold story of the last 72 hours of the Marcoses inside Malacañang Palace before fleeing to Hawaii, during the 1986 People Power Revolution.
The movie will be called “Maid in Malacañan”. The cast includes Cesar Montano as Ferdinand Marcos Sr, Ruffa Guttierez as Imelda Marcos, Christine Reyes will portray Imee Marcos, young Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will play by Diego Loyzaga, and Ella Cruz as Irene Marcos. The movie is under Viva Films.
But not only the movie of Darryl Yap will be showing on August 3, but also the award-winning film, “Katips: The Movie”.
This film is based on the 2016 stage musical, “Katips: Ang Mga Bagong Katipunero”, originally performed onstage, which won Best Musical Performance in Aliw Awards that year.
It is the first film produced by Philstagers Films. The film adaptation covers decades in the lives of the people who fought bravely against a dictator so that they could live in freedom and justice. The story centers on a group of rebels, led by student leader Greg (Jerome Ponce), subversive writer Panyong (Vince Tañada), and Alet (Adelle Ibarrientos), known as the “Tandang Sora” of those days, welcoming fellow rebels into her home as they escape curfew.
The film is produced, written, and directed by Vince Tañada. This film garnered 17 nominations
During FAMAS Awards in 2022.
The two rival films will expect to have different audiences. But one thing is for sure, the moviegoers will either learn the truth or the lie.
