The daughter of former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile confirmed that she was running for the First District seat of Cagayan to better serve her fellow Cagayanos.
KPE filed her Certificate of Candidacy for the congressional seat in the First District of Cagayan under the LAKAS-CMD party last October, 7 2021.
KPE also forged an alliance with the Partido Federal Pilipinas (PFP) and presidential contender Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in a meeting at the former senator’s house in Metro Manila
KPE mentioned that her father has already given her blessings as she enters the world of politics.
“Humingi po ako ng basbas sa aking ama dahil alam ko mas makakatulong ako sa tao, at naka-align ito sa aking adhikain (I asked for my father’s blessing because I knew that I would be better able to help people and that this was aligned with my purpose),” KPE said.
This was the first time KPE was running for public office, but according to her, she has had firsthand experience in politics because her father, Juan Ponce-Enrile (JPE), was a veteran politician and a former Senate president and her brother, Jack Ponce-Enrile, was a former representative.
KPE currently holds the position of president, CEO and director at Philcomsat Holdings Corp.; president and CEO of Montemar Resort and Development Corp., a subsidiary of Philcomsat Holdings Corp.; president and CEO of Jaka Investments Corp.; and chief financial officer and director of Philippine Communications Satellite Corp. Inc.
