With the Oscars just one month away, Sir Elton John is getting ready to party with a little help from his friends. Last Monday (March 22), the Elton John AIDS Foundation announced the new details for the annual Academy Awards viewing party. This event will take place on April 25, and this annual event will kick off with their first-ever virtual pre-party. The said event will be hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris, featuring a special “stripped back” performance courtesy of Dua Lipa.
The pre-party, which will take place one hour before the Oscars begin, will be available for the supporters of the foundation to watch through Cisco Webex. Included in this are the other soon-to-be-announced guests joining the lineup. Tickets are now currently available on Ticketmaster, starting at $20. The proceeds of this virtual party will benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Dua Lipa also shared her excitement for the party in a statement. “It’s such an honor to be part of the most iconic Oscar parties, and I’m really proud to support the Elton John AIDS Foundation. I love the idea that they tackle the stigma that exists around HIV patients. Through this move, I pray that we are building a kinder and more accepting world together,” she said happily in the interview. “Above all, sharing the stage with Elton John will be a dream come true!”, she added.
