3,000 new Philippine flags will be provided by the Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. (BAVI), operator of the country’s largest rotisserie chicken chain, Chooks-to-Go to police community precincts nationwide as part of its commitment to the #MagingMagiting flag campaign of Ayala Foundation Inc. (AFI).
BAVI will provide financial support to enable AFI, with the help of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), to distribute the 6’x3’-sized national flags as the corporate sponsor.
The #MagingMagiting flag campaign aims to strengthen Filipino pride, love for the country, and celebrate the lives of everyday Filipino heroes by distributing 10,000 flags to public elementary schools and police stations nationwide.
At Camp Crame in Quezon City, PNP Chief General Oscar Albayalde, AFI president Ruel Maranan, and NHCP Chairman Dr. Rene Escalante signed a memorandum of agreement to formalize the second phase of the #MagingMagiting Flag Campaign. BAVI president and general manager Ronald Mascariñas then led the ceremonial turnover of 2,000 flags to the PNP while the remaining 1,000 flags will be distributed to remaining regions.
“Chooks-to-Go and Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. are honored to continue our partnership with Ayala Foundation Inc., especially since the second phase of the #MagingMagiting flag campaign will enable us to provide new flags to police precincts nationwide. We hope that the flags will inspire our law enforcers to remain steadfast in their sworn duty to serve and protect our countrymen,” Mascariñas said.
He is hoping that the flag donations will empower and encourage the uniformed personnel to serve as role models in saluting and giving due respect to the Philippine flag, especially during flag ceremonies at the police stations.
During the first chapter of the flag campaign, BAVI and AFI, together with NHCP and the Department of Education, distributed more than 3,200 flags to public elementary schools nationwide, helping enroot a sense of patriotism among the students.
Section 5 of Republic Act 8491 or the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines stipulates that the Philippine national flag shall be displayed in all public buildings, official residences, public plazas, and institutions of learning everyday throughout the year.
Section 38 states that as a sign of respect when the National Anthem is played, all people should stand at attention and face the Philippine flag. Those in the military service, including members of the PNP should give the salute prescribed by their regulations. The salute should be completed until the last note of the anthem.
