LOS ANGELES — Nearly two decades after the iconic fashion-industry comedy The Devil Wears Prada captured audiences worldwide, anticipation is building for its upcoming sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, as returning cast members tease new developments while one notable actor questions his absence from the project.
Actor Anne Hathaway recently shared that her beloved character Andy Sachs will appear more mature and self-assured in the sequel, reflecting the personal and professional growth she has undergone since the events of the 2006 film.
Hathaway explained that Andy’s sense of style and career outlook have significantly evolved. No longer the uncertain assistant navigating the demanding world of fashion journalism, the character is now portrayed as someone who has established herself and developed a stronger sense of identity.

The sequel is also expected to bring back key characters from the original film, including the formidable editor Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep, along with Emily Charlton portrayed by Emily Blunt, and Nigel Kipling played by Stanley Tucci.
However, one original cast member will not be returning. Actor Adrian Grenier, who portrayed Andy’s boyfriend Nate Cooper, revealed that he was not contacted to reprise his role in the sequel.
Grenier admitted he felt disappointed about the situation but believes the decision may be tied to the criticism his character received from fans over the years. Many viewers revisited the film in recent discussions and argued that Nate appeared unsupportive of Andy’s demanding career during the original story.

Despite the apparent snub, Grenier said he understands how public perception of the character has changed and suggested that Nate’s story could still continue in other ways, even joking about the possibility of a future spinoff centered on the character.
The original film, based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger, became a cultural touchstone in fashion and pop culture, celebrated for its sharp dialogue, memorable performances, and behind-the-scenes look at the high-pressure world of fashion publishing.
As production moves forward on the sequel, fans are eager to see how the story revisits the glamorous yet demanding world surrounding Miranda Priestly and the magazine Runway, while exploring how its characters have evolved nearly 20 years later.
