Manila Mayor Isko Moreno plans to help small-scale businesses adversely affected by the pandemic and launch his mass housing projects in the city on a national scale if he wins the highest position in the land next year.
Moreno revealed how low interest loans will be given to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) during his visit to a famous local tocino maker in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer said he plans to partner the country’s local government units (LGUs) with the Departments of Trade and Industry and of Agriculture as well as with LandBank and the Development Bank of the Philippines for financial assistance to MSMEs.
The mayor said he hopes to give assistance to small businesses using the windfall of the LGUs’ share from the national revenue collection which increased under the Mandanas ruling. He also vowed to replicate Manila’s successful mass housing projects.
Meanwhile, Moreno and his running mate Dr. Willie Ong met virtually with overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) recently to discuss their promise to purge incompetent staff from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office. Moreno also vowed to improve the Overseas Filipino Bank.
For his part, Ong promised to give proper health care to the OFWs’ relatives at home.
