SEOUL, South Korea — Global K-pop sensation BTS continues to prove its worldwide dominance as the group’s highly anticipated comeback album Arirang shatters records across streaming platforms and sets up major chart milestones just days after its release.
The album, released on March 20, 2026, marks the group’s first major comeback following the completion of their mandatory military service. The reunion of all seven members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—sparked massive excitement among fans worldwide.
Record-breaking streaming performance
Within its first 24 hours, Arirang posted massive numbers across major streaming platforms. The album recorded roughly 110 million streams on Spotify in a single day, making it one of the biggest album debuts on the platform and the largest first-day streaming total for a K-pop album.

All 14 tracks from the album simultaneously occupied the Top 14 spots on Spotify’s Global chart, with the lead single SWIM leading the pack.
The comeback also performed strongly on other streaming services. Apple Music reported one of the biggest first-day streaming debuts for a pop album by a group, while Amazon Music confirmed the project as the largest global first-day debut for a K-pop album on the platform.
Strong projections on Billboard charts
The album’s massive streaming numbers are now translating into strong chart projections in the United States.
Industry forecasts indicate that Arirang could debut with around 650,000 units on the Billboard 200, with projections continuing to rise as additional sales and streaming data are counted. If the numbers hold, the album would become the biggest debut for a K-pop album in the chart’s history.

A No. 1 debut would also mark BTS’ seventh chart-topping album on the Billboard 200, extending the group’s already impressive record on the ranking.
Meanwhile, the lead single SWIM is challenging for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 next week. If it tops the chart, it would become BTS’ seventh No. 1 hit, symbolically giving the group one Hot 100 chart-topper for each of its seven members.
Early projections also suggest that all songs from Arirang could simultaneously enter the Hot 100—an achievement rarely seen for albums by groups.
Comeback concert draws global audience
The group also celebrated the comeback with a massive live event titled “BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang” held at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul.

The free concert drew over 100,000 fans on site, while millions more tuned in worldwide through a livestream broadcast on Netflix, which reportedly attracted 18.4 million viewers globally.
Cultural inspiration behind the album
Beyond its commercial success, Arirang also carries cultural meaning. The album’s title references “Arirang,” a traditional Korean folk song widely regarded as a symbol of Korean identity and resilience.

By incorporating elements of the iconic melody into the album’s sound and concept, BTS blends traditional Korean influences with modern global pop production, highlighting the group’s cultural roots while continuing to expand its worldwide reach.
Global dominance continues
With record-breaking streaming numbers, strong chart projections, and a globally watched comeback concert, Arirang is already shaping up to be one of the biggest music releases of 2026.
For BTS and their global fandom, ARMY, the comeback serves as powerful proof that even after years focused on solo activities and military service, the group remains one of the most influential acts in the global music industry.
