Quezon City — The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Metro Manila Cluster Museums successfully held “Touch the Artists’ Vision (TAV) Goes to Quezon City” at SPED Center Batino Elementary School, giving learners with disabilities a rare, hands-on encounter with Philippine history and literature.
NHCP museum curators and staff guided students through an experiential learning tour, introducing them to the lives, works, and ideals of national heroes including Dr. Jose Rizal, Melchora Aquino, Apolinario Mabini, Gregoria de Jesus, Andres Bonifacio, Josefa Llanes Escoda, Gen. Gregorio del Pilar, and President Manuel L. Quezon. The exhibit featured tactile elements designed to help participants connect more deeply with historical narratives.

A highlight of the event was a live monologue storytelling session featuring Ang Batang Babaeng Nagtitinda ng Posporo—Rizal’s Tagalog translation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Match Girl.

Learners with autism, intellectual disabilities, low vision, and those who are deaf enthusiastically took part in the activities, many experiencing this kind of interactive museum-style learning for the first time.
The program supports the upcoming Dekada ng Kasaysayan 2025 theme: Taon ng Kabataan sa Kasaysayang Pilipino, emphasizing inclusive, youth-centered historical education. The initiative was made possible through the partnership of the Rotary Club of San Juan Del Monte and the SPED Center Batino Elementary School.
