MANILA — The NU Pep Squad delivered a show-stopping performance to clinch a historic ninth title at the UAAP Season 88 Cheerdance Competition — a feat that formally establishes them as the most successful squad in the history of the event.
With a score of 695 points, NU outpaced rivals — including the Adamson Pep Squad (659 points) and the FEU Cheering Squad (658.5 points) — to secure first place before a crowd of more than 20,000 spectators at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

A week before the competition, NU had already been tipped by analysts and fans as the squad to beat. Reporters described the Bulldogs as “a powerhouse” aiming not only for a back-to-back win but for a lone lead in overall championships. Their confidence was rewarded when their ninja-inspired routine — marked by rapid stunts, precise choreography, and high energy — captured both the judges’ favor and the audience’s acclaim.

With this victory, NU ends the three-way tie for most UAAP Cheerdance crowns — previously shared with the UP Pep Squad and the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe at eight apiece — and now stands alone at the summit.
The NU Pep Squad’s triumph reaffirms their consistency, athleticism, and creativity — qualities that helped them once again dominate one of the UAAP’s most tightly contested and highly anticipated events.
