LUCENA CITY — The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), led by Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo, unveils today the new historical marker honoring President Manuel L. Quezon at Perez Park, Capitol Compound in Lucena City.
Executive Director Arevalo presents the marker, which is formally accepted by Quezon Governor Angelina DL Tan, MD, MBAH. The ceremony is witnessed by Quezon Vice Governor Anacleto A. Alcala III and Lt. Gen. Cerilo C. Balaoro Jr., Commander of the Southern Luzon Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Following the unveiling, Arevalo, Tan, and Lt. Gen. Balaoro lead a wreath-laying ceremony at the 70-year-old Manuel L. Quezon Monument located within the park. They also plant molave tree seedlings as part of the commemorative activities.
The newly unveiled marker recounts Quezon’s legacy as President of the Commonwealth, Father of the National Language, revolutionary soldier, and statesman whose service shaped the early foundations of the Philippine government.

The NHCP continues its mandate to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, while safeguarding historic sites and structures through conservation and official historical marking.
The ceremony coincides with the observance of Commonwealth 90, commemorating 90 years since the establishment of the Commonwealth of the Philippines.
