Filipino-Canadian actor Manny Jacinto received a heartwarming welcome from fans as he returned to his birthplace for the red carpet premiere of Disney’s Freakier Friday at the SM Mall of Asia on August 5.
Hundreds of excited fans gathered to see the The Good Place star in person, many bringing posters, fan art, and wearing themed outfits for the occasion. Jacinto didn’t disappoint—he took time to sign autographs, pose for selfies, and even join in on a lively game of Pinoy Henyo, delighting the crowd with his playful energy and sincerity.

“It feels like a dream,” Jacinto said during the premiere. “I was born here… never would’ve thought I’d be in a Disney film, standing on this carpet in front of so many kababayans. But here we are.”
He also impressed the audience by speaking in Tagalog, saying, “Sana panoorin ninyo ang ‘Freakier Friday.’ Maraming maraming salamat po,” followed by a charming “Mahal kita!” and a finger heart—earning loud cheers from his Filipino fans.

In Freakier Friday, Jacinto plays Eric Davies, a chef and single dad who’s engaged to Anna Coleman, now an adult played once again by Lindsay Lohan. The film serves as a sequel to the beloved 2003 body-swap comedy starring Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, both of whom return to reprise their roles.

Jacinto shared that stepping into the role of a father required deep emotional grounding, which he found by reflecting on his parents’ experiences. “I just drew upon the experiences of my parents,” he said. “It really helped me connect with the character.”
Despite his Hollywood success, Jacinto’s return to the Philippines reminded fans of his roots and humility. His Manila appearance wasn’t just a publicity stop—it was a homecoming, and one that left a lasting impression on those who were there.
Freakier Friday is set to hit Philippine cinemas on August 21, 2025, and promises a fresh twist on the original story with more heart, humor, and magic.
