Cristo Bridge was filled with the irresistible aroma of freshly baked goods as Universal Robina Corporation (URC) Flour successfully concluded the Sariaya leg of its highly anticipated “Bida sa Masa, Search for Bida Bakerpreneur 2025” competition. The event saw a remarkable showcase of baking talent from both aspiring home and pro bakers, all vying for the prestigious title of “Bida Bakerpreneur.”

The competition, a cornerstone of URC Flour’s commitment to empowering the next generation of Filipino entrepreneurs, provided a dynamic platform for participants to demonstrate their creativity, skill, and business acumen. The Sariaya leg, one of the three regional competitions for this year’s “Bida sa Masa” series (alongside Pasig City and Davao City), highlighted the rich baking heritage and innovative spirit present in Quezon Province.
The day was divided into two fiercely contested categories: the Home Baker category and the Pro Baker category.

In the Home Baker category, passionate hobbyists transformed their kitchen dreams into reality. Participants Danielle A. Abanilla with hi Passion Fruit Tart with Twill Pastry Cream, Jennicah Dwein Casino and her Sapin-Sapin Fiesta Swiss Roll with Bukayo Filling, John Francis Penaverde and his Creamy Island Harmony, Jose Ralito Remo and his Kababayan Cupcake Stuffed with Cheese Meringue Icing and finally, Marie Francoise Therese De Villa and her Para sa Taga Ilog: A Coconut Cake, all with aspirations of turning their love for baking into a thriving business, presented their mouthwatering baking specialty with an array of delightful creations.
From traditional Filipino delicacies with a unique twist to innovative pastries, the judges had a challenging task in selecting the top contenders. The emphasis was not just on taste and presentation, but also on the potential for commercial viability, a key aspect of the “Bida Bakerpreneur” initiative.
Meanwhile, the Pro Baker category delivered a masterclass in culinary artistry and precision. Experienced bakers from local bakeshops, restaurants, and cafes brought their A-game, showcasing advanced techniques, intricate designs, and sophisticated flavor profiles.

Pro Bakers Gelline Almarez and her Malunggay Twisted Donut, Gonzales Aries Bombani and his Ham Panada, Macario Baylen and his Ube Cheese Pinagong, Maelyn Mendoza and her Tofu and Chicken Pastil Braided Buns and last but no the least, William Huiden and his Creamy Ham and Cheese Buns.
The intensity in the professional kitchen was palpable, as each contestant meticulously crafted their entries, demonstrating years of dedication to their craft. This category truly highlighted the elevated standards and competitive spirit within the professional baking community of Sariaya.

The winners from the Sariaya leg, have not only earned significant cash prizes and baking equipment but also the golden opportunity to represent Sariaya at the highly anticipated “Bida sa Masa, Search for Bida Bakerpreneur 2025” Grand Championship. They will join finalists from Pasig City and Davao City in a final showdown to determine the ultimate “Bida Bakerpreneur.”
