Universal Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for Wicked: For Good, the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2024 musical fantasy film Wicked. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film continues the story of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) as their friendship faces new challenges in the aftermath of Elphaba’s rebellion against the Wizard of Oz.

The trailer, which debuted at CinemaCon, offers a glimpse into the evolving dynamics between Elphaba and Glinda. Elphaba, now branded the Wicked Witch of the West, grapples with her public vilification, while Glinda, engaged to Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), navigates her role in the political landscape of Oz. The footage showcases iconic elements from the Land of Oz, including flying monkeys, the Yellow Brick Road, and the arrival of Dorothy.

Musical highlights from the trailer feature powerful renditions of “No Good Deed Goes Unpunished” and “For Good,” performed by Erivo and Grande. The film’s score, composed by John Powell with songs by Stephen Schwartz, promises to deliver an emotionally resonant experience.

Wicked: For Good is scheduled for theatrical release on November 21, 2025, in various formats including IMAX and Dolby Cinema. The film was shot concurrently with its predecessor, with production concluding in January 2024. The original Wicked film garnered critical acclaim and commercial success, earning ten Oscar nominations and grossing over $100 million domestically.
