MANILA – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) shared with the public the upcoming programs and activities planned for the celebration of the 127th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence on 12 June 2025. NHCP Chair Regalado Trota Jose, Jr., joined by Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo, and Deputy Executive Director for Programs and Projects Alvin R. Alcid listed the events for Kalayaan 2025 which began from the start of the National Flag Days on 28 May 2025.

On 5 June 2025, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Coast Guard and the other uniformed services will showcase their artistic and cultural talents at the annual “Musikalayaan” at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium, 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, 8 June 2025, the Association of Volunteer Fire Chiefs and Firefighters of the Philippines (AVFCFP) will kick-off Independence Week with the Parada ng Pag-anyaya along Roxas Boulevard at 7:00 a.m. Various National Government Agencies will showcase their services and booths at the annual Mga Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo from 10-11 June 2025 at Rizal Park, Manila. Alongside them are the Kadiwa ng Pangulo and DTI Diskwento Caravan and the AFP & PNP Static & Kinetic Display along Maria Orosa St. Citizens from across Metro Manila can also avail of free check-ups, dental care, and medicines through the Klinikalayaan on 10 June, 8:00 a.m. at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium.

12 June itself, Independence Day, will see the President lead the simultaneous flag-raising and wreath-laying rites at the Rizal Monument in Manila, with other officials also holding activities at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Cavite, Barasoain Church in Bulacan, Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan, Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine in San Juan City, Mausoleo de los Veteranos de la Revoluccion in the Manila North Cemetery, and the Pamintuan Mansion in Angeles City. Local Government Units nationwide will also hold their respective ceremonies. This will be followed by the Parada ng Kalayaan which will feature Military Contingents, historic Floats, and Festival Performances along Roxas Boulevard from Kilometer Zero to the CCP Complex. An Independence Day Concert at the Metropolitan Theater will cap off Kalayaan 2025 at 7:00 p.m.

The NHCP, with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Philippine National Police (PNP), and the various local government units of Metro Manila will closely coordinate to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the capital during the celebrations. Announcement regarding road closures and traffic adjustments will also be disseminated to the riding public in the next coming days.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
