You may know him as “Tine” from the popular Thai series, “2gether: The Series,” Win Metawin, or often affectionately referred to as “Win” by his fans. His charming personality and talent have earned him various nicknames and fan-created titles over time. He has gained recognition both locally and internationally for his work in television and modeling. He has Chinese ancestry and was born in Bangkok, Thailand.
Born on February 2, 1999, Win is often referred to as “Thailand’s rising star” or “Thai heartthrob,” particularly after his success in “2gether: The Series.” The series was a huge success and has a loyal following. He has lent his voice to “The Sound of Happiness” campaign, a joint initiative between Unicef, the Department of Mental Health, and JOOX aimed at promoting mental health and empowering young people in Thailand.
As a well-known actor, Win shared his own experiences of dealing with stress and pressure during his adolescence, encouraging young people to seek help when needed.
After “2gether,” Win starred in its sequel, “Still 2gether,” which continued the story of Tine. He has also appeared in other projects, in September 2020, Win was announced as one of the F4 members in Thailand’s adaptation of the iconic Japanese manga series, Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flower) or the popular Meteor Garden in Taiwan.
In November 2021, it was revealed that he would be appearing in his third drama series called Devil Sister. He is also part of the Thailand Version of Korea’s “Gangnam Beauty“, a horror movie Enigma and the soon-to-be-released, Thailand’s Scarlet Heart, based on the 2005 Chinese novel Startling by Each Step by Tong Hua.
Win has worked with various fashion labels, often featuring in campaigns including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Omega and he currently serves as the global brand ambassador for Prada, a house ambassador for Tiffany & Co., and a brand ambassador for PUMA showcasing his stylish image. He has also partnered with beauty and skincare brands promoting products aimed at young audiences. He even endorsed popular food and beverage brands, like Coca-Cola, adding gadgets and devices that are appealing to his tech-savvy fanbase.
Win is very popular around Asia especially here in the Philippines. Just this year, he worked with the talented actress Janella Salvador on a movie, “Under Parallel Skies” where he joined the mall shows and red carpet premiers. The film follows the story of a man struggling with a painful past. As he tries to move forward, he later discovers that the woman currently in his life is connected to that past. “Under Parallel Skies” will premiere on Netflix on October 24, 2024.
Janella in an ABS-CBN News interview says about working with Win. “The most memorable thing was when we went to Thailand to do some workshops before the film. We did intimacy workshops, para pagdating ng filming, hindi na kami awkward. Para wala nang walls. “He made an effort. He invited me and my handler to dinner. He specially booked it. It was this Japanese restaurant in Thailand. He even let us use his van to return to the hotel. I think that was very nice of him since we were in a different country.” He is such a nice guy!
To add to this long list of why you should start to stan Win? He has been the very first Thai person to be included in The Forbes 30 under 30 Asia 2023.
At a very young age and at the peak of his career, Win also knew how to spend his earnings as well, as he is also a businessman who owns the restaurant, Souri Coffee Shops & Desserts in Thailand. In 2020, he also launched his own fashion brand “VELENCE” which committed to donating part of its revenue to orphanages.
Despite all the awards and recognition in Thailand, especially abroad, he remains humble and true to his words, still dedicated to his work, and values all the fans. Win had his very first solo fan meeting in Manila last June 11, 2023.
